If you were at the January meeting you were aware that we took up a collection for the Hobbyists Aqua Lab Conservation Project (HALCP) in honor of Ivan Dibble, who passed away on Christmas.  I forwarded a check to Bob Cashin and received this email from Bob on January 27th:

Hi Kurt,

On behalf of HALCP, I want to thank you for the donation in Ivan's memory. It was very nice of your club, Aquarium Club of Lancaster County, to take up a collection … at the January meeting. One of his principles was that every penny was spent to benefit the fish. I am sure that those of us who will carry on his legacy will adhere to that policy.

                                                                American Treasurer, HALCP

And on February 8th from Don Kenwood, UK Treasurer HALCP:

Hi Kurt

Thank you so much for the donation you have made, it is much appreciated.

As Bob has said, all of the money contributed to the HALCP is used to support conservation of livebearing fish in Mexico. It has been written into the constitution that none of the funds will be used for travel or accommodation. As Treasurer of the HALCP here, I am the only one of the two man team left and in the reorganisation I will ensure that the original principles are adhered to. Bob of course is our Treasurer in the US.

I am in the process of extracting information from Ivan’s computer records of the latest intentions and involvements and will be issuing a statement quite soon.

                                                                         Best wishes

                                                                         Don Kenwood

I am very proud of the generosity of our members and thank everyone who contributed to this worthy cause.
